Welcome to the New Braunfels Outer Loop Study Website

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) San Antonio District put together a task force to review the findings of the initial New Braunfels Outer Loop Study. The decision was prompted by questions and/or concerns raised by the public regarding the process and some of the data.

On March 6, 2010 the Task Force held a final, full-day work session to review and finalize the Task Force recommendations being made to improve the study and strengthen the process. The work conducted by the Task Force will be incorporated into an Addendum to the NBOL Study Final Report which will then be submitted to Comal and Guadalupe Counties, the City of New Braunfels and other cities affected by the study area for possible adoption into their Major Thoroughfare Plans. The Addendum is currently being drafted and it will be posted on this website once it is complete.

Additional Task Force Background Information: TxDOT Convened Task Force to Review New Braunfels Outer Loop Study Findings

The Outer Loop Task Force is comprised of some of the members of the two previous study work groups – the Community Work Group and the Technical Work Group – as well as additional study stakeholders identified by TxDOT, the City of New Braunfels, Comal and Guadalupe Counties.  The primary focus of the task force is to review the process utilized by consultants to develop the study recommendation to ensure the accuracy of the data collected and that the screening and evaluation tools were applied consistently throughout all parts of the study area.

"As the new district engineer, it’s important to me that our projects are sensitive to concerns raised by local property owners and residents. The task force is meant to bring transparency to the process and ensure we didn’t miss anything during our evaluations."
Mario Medina,
TxDOT San Antonio District Engineer
