- Basura Bash
Through the efforts of the Basura Bash Planning Organization, a volunteer organization committed to increasing San Antonio's stewardship of the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River, RJRA showed support its support to the maintenance and preservation of the natural environment particulary along the banks of Bexar County rivers, creeks, and tributaries. As a Gold Level Sponsor for the past two years, RJRA has contributed to the continued success of this annual event which last year drew 2,400 volunteers who picked up 61.56 tons of trash, 7.99 tons of recyclable materials, and 1205 tires. In addition to monetary support, RJRA public involvement staff volunteer for the Public Relations Subcommittee to help create awareness for the event and its mission.RJRA's continued support and commitment to the Basura Bash and keeping Bexar County waterways clean are a large part of our shared success. Basura Bash Chairman - Walk & Roll San Antonio
This annual event is an opportunity for San Antonio and Bexar County residents to celebrate the benefits of walking, wheeling, and cycling. RJRA is a 2008 sponsor of this event aimed at promoting walking, biking, and wheeling as clean, healthy, and affordable forms of transportation, recreation and exercise. In support of this event, several RJRA staff members will be participating in the Walk & Roll 5K run scheduled as part of the Walk & Roll Fest at the Botanical Gardens parking lot on Saturday, May 10, 2008.
