RODOLFO "RUDY" J. RIVERA, PE
As founder and president of RJ RIVERA Associates, Inc. (RJRA), Rudy is the backbone and the foundation on which the company was built. He brings over 30 years experience in transportation engineering and extensive project management experience. Rudy has successfully managed complex engineering projects that involved working with federal, state, local and resource agencies, and various local and community groups. His project experience includes developing cost-effective transportation projects that balance sound engineering with environmental sensitivity. Rudy effectively communicates the need and purpose of each study or project to the local community and patiently works with diverse, and many times competing, stakeholders.
Prior to establishing RJRA and his career as a transportation consultant, Rudy had a distinguished career with a nationally recognized engineering firm and at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). He worked in the Tyler District as Director of Transportation Planning and Development (TP&D), Austin District as Advanced Project Development Engineer, and Design Division in Field Coordination and Geometric Design.
Rudy brings a long history of involvement in the highway design training arena, as well. As a TxDOT employee, he served as a Task Force Member, a writer and instructor for the TxDOT In-House Design Training Program. He provided guidance in the development of the entire program which covered all the areas of design associated with developing plans for highway projects. He was lead author and instructor for the Level 3 PS&E Class, and wrote and taught several chapters of the Level 1 and Level 2 classes. Later in his career, as a consultant for another firm, he served as project manager for the development of a new TxDOT manual Highway Project Development Process and updates for the Right-of-Way, Utility and Hydraulic Manuals. Now as the founder and President of RJRA he served as the principal developer and instructor for the DES 121 Building Roads the TxDOT Way. In addition, he has also served as instructor for PS&E Class and Intro to Highway Project Development Class.
